Using a Keyboard Scanner in the Broadlume BMS App

If you want to use a barcode scanning feature on an Android or Apple device (other than the dedicated Android scanners), you can download a keyboard scanner app from the App Store or Google Play Store. These apps enable scanning functionality directly through your device’s keyboard. Below are the steps to set up and use these keyboards with the Broadlume BMS app.

  1. Download a keyboard scanner app from the appropriate store. A couple of options that have been tested internally include:

    • Apple: ScanKey – QR OCR NFC Keyboard

    • Android: Scanner Keyboard – Google Play

Note: The screenshots shown below are from Android devices. iOS screens may look slightly different.

  1. Open the Broadlume BMS app as usual. On any screen with a text box, tap or click into the box to bring up your default keyboard.

Switch to the scanner keyboard using one of the following methods:

  • Method 1: Tap the globe icon in the corner of the keyboard to cycle through keyboards/languages until you reach your scanner keyboard (bottom right for Android, bottom left for iOS).

  • Method 2: Press and hold the keyboard space bar to see a list of available keyboards, then select your scanner keyboard from the list.

Once selected, your keyboard will change to the scanner keyboard, ready for use.
