- A feature to move inventory between Products, Colors and/or Product Codes is available in the Catalog Maintenance and Inventory Maintenance modules. The feature appears as Move Available Inventory from the Options menu in the Edit Existing Catalog screen, and as Move Inventory (Available) from the Options menu in the Edit Inventory Item screen.
- Only Available inventory can be moved. If any inventory is currently assigned, it will stay with the current record. All Cost, Freight, Overbill, Vendor Invoice #, etc. will transfer with the moved inventory. Additionally, a Pointer Record will be written for both the old and new inventory records, and an Audit Detail record will also be created. This is handy for B2B conversion, among other uses.
Step 1: Print an Inventory Valuation (freight split) report by Vendor to see what you have in stock under the non-B2B Product Codes.
This report is located in Inventory Control > Inventory Reports > Inventory Valuation (freight split).
Step 2: Next, follow the instructions outlined below to move existing inventory from a non-B2B product code to an existing catalog item.
Pull up the catalog item for the item you need to move, and then select Options > Move Available Inventory:
In the Move Available Inventory screen, you can verify the Source Product (Catalog Item) that has the inventory item you want to move. This tells you exactly what you are moving:
From the Destination Product box, select the new B2B Product Code, Style, and Color from the (Move to a specific existing catalog item) section in which to move the inventory:
This is the preferred scenario for B2B conversion as the inventory should be moved to an existing B2B Catalog Item with a B2B Sku so the system will match to that item for future updates. If the B2B Catalog Item has not been imported, contact your Vendor Rep to have it added to your import and then go back and move the inventory once the item has been imported. If the item is dropped, you can decide if you want to move the inventory using the (Move to new product code) option, or leave where it is until the inventory is gone and then drop the Catalog item.
Once the existing catalog item is selected, click the button to Move Inventory:
Step 3: When the move is complete, print an Inventory Audit Report to verify the changes were made correctly. The net change should be zero.
This report is located in Inventory Control > Inventory Reports > Inventory Audit.
Step 4: Navigate to Inventory Control > Special Catalog Maintenance and choose Edit Catalog Lookup by Prod.
You will use this to hide the catalog items for B2B Vendors that were under non-B2B product codes so only the catalog items under the B2B product codes show in lookups.
Type the original, non-B2B Product Code to hide in order lookup:
Choose No at the prompt "Do you wish to drop item even if Inventory Exists?":
Next, type the Vendor ID. This will hide all catalog items in these categories in order lookup:
Enter Manufacturer is an optional field; you may hit Enter here to bypass.
You will be met with a prompt "If no inventory in all branches - will move (N) to catalog lookup field". Answer Yes to continue:
The process will run and you will see a confirmation with the number of records that were updated:
You may repeat the process to hide the catalog items for B2B Vendors that were under non-B2B product codes so only the catalog items under B2B product codes will show in lookups.
