Barcode Printer Issues and Troubleshooting
This article will go over Barcode printer troubleshooting.
1. Make sure the proper driver is installed for the Barcode printer. Setup consists of getting a driver from the CognitiveTPG website and installing.
2. You should use DLX 2 or 4" DT setup during installation.
3. Make sure the Barcode printer is connected through USB.
4. Most issues we see are mapping issues or the connection is loose between the computer and printer, so be sure to double-check those two things.
Other Troubleshooting options:
If this is a new Barcode printer, does it print a test page?
If this is a regular printer, have you tried remapping?
If Barcode printer:
Try printing the attached "blaster.txt" to the printer from within Windows (e.g., NotePad). It should be formatted like a barcode tag and not print the text as shown if you open the file. If this doesn't print, the issue is Windows related, and not BMS. I would suggest uninstalling/removing the printer and reinstalling locally.
If it does print correctly, try changing each of the following printer settings, testing the print from BMS in between each change:
- Printers & scanners
- Select printer, Manage
- Printer properties
- Advanced:
a) Print Processor... set to winprint, RAW
b) New Driver... Generic, Generic / Text Only
